Lab Reports 14.0 release notes
Last updated: September 7, 2026
🟣 Updates and improvements to [Lab Reports] — v14.0 August 23, 2024
We are excited to introduce Lab Reports v14.0, a major update featuring combined flow enhancements for comprehensive report processing, simplified configuration management to reduce errors, and the inclusion of HbA1c values in sugar text messages for clearer patient communication. The bot can now identify and process mixed abnormal reports more accurately.
🚀 New Features and Enhancements
HbA1c Value Now Available in SMS!

We are thrilled to announce that HbA1c values can now be included in sugar text messages for normal, NDPP, good diabetic control, and poor diabetic control categories. This enhancement ensures patients receive clearer, more informative messages that directly address their blood sugar results, eliminating the need for accessing the NHS App or making phone calls!
Please see below the following implications for your practice related to the following HbA1c Flows:
Non-Diabetic Hyperglycaemia
By pulling the Hba1c value into the SMS message, patients can now self-refer to your local NDPP service
To make this seamless for patients, please modify your Accurx template called “Existing prediabetes” and “NDH (Prediabetes) offer to refer to NDPP”
You may also wish to include details of the service. You can find your local NDPP local services here
Most services do not need patients to know their nhs number, however they can find it here
Please see below a possible SMS suggestion.
Your blood test shows you have pre-diabetes.

This can be prevented by referring yourself to the National Diabetic Prevention Programme.

Good Diabetic Control
By pulling the Hba1c value into the SMS message, patients can now understand what their latest Hba1c value is
If you have enabled this message, and if you want to amend the template, it is called “Good Diabetic Control - Low Carb Info”
Your patients may benefit from adding a link to explain what is good control.
Poor Diabetic Control
By pulling the Hba1c value into the SMS message, patients can now understand what their latest Hba1c value is
If you have enabled this message, and if you want to amend the template, it is called “Poor Diabetic Control”
Your patients may benefit from adding information about target levels.
Mixed abnormal reports including cholesterol and Hba1c
One of the biggest features in our latest release… our lab reports automation can now process abnormal cholesterols/hba1cs mixed with other normal report (e.g., normal FBC with abnormal serum lipids).
This will significantly improve the number of reports automated in your pathology inbox across the board.
Changes in the content of EMIS sticky notes
We are changing the information we add into the sticky notes within reports that are skipped. Please the table below to compare the old content to the new improved content.
Type of reports | Old | New |

Haemoglobin drop of 10% or more | Hb dropped by more than 10% | *Dear GP, |
This patient's haemoglobin has dropped by 10% or more than previous result. Please can you review.

If patient has a Qrisk higher than set threshold and are taking statin | Qrisk is high but on statin | *Dear GP, |
This patient's QRISK2 remains high despite being on a statin. GP Automate is currently not checking for a 40% drop in LDL (after initiation of the statin). Please can you review the need for titration in this patient.

Patient has CKD and/or CKD but not in the parent search of CHOL002 | Patient has CKD and/or CAD. Please review the need for Statin and or Non-HDL to be <2.5. | *Dear GP, |
This patient has either CKD and/or CVD (CHD, CVA or PAD). Currently they are excluded from your QOF CHOL002 target. We cannot decide if they should have this target met or not. Can you please review this patient to see if they need a statin and/or if they need their Non-HDL (or LDL) to get to target.

Patient is diabetic but in the exclusion criteria for statin | Diabetic Patient and in exclusion criteria for statin, please review | *Dear GP, |
This patient has Diabetes. They are currently excluded from your QOF DM022 target. They may either not be on a statin or not to target. Please can you review.

Accurx Floreys for cholesterol pathways!
You are now able to send an Accurx Florey to patient for any of your cholesterol pathway.
Please see information below to convert a standard text message to a Florey message.
ADD INFORMATION
Flagging NDPP and Insufficient Vitamin D reports if SMS is not sent
If a text message is not sent for reports that are in pre-diabetic range for sugar or insufficient vitamin D levels, instead of skipping, we will add a sticky note suggesting below:
“This patient’s report is either a NDPP or Vitamin D insufficiency, and text message cannot be sent, hence it has not been filed. Please can you review.”
Combined Flow Enhancements
The bot now filters abnormal reports after processing normal ones, handling all reports from newest to oldest. Smear, good diabetic control, poor diabetic control, and urine ACR flows have been duplicated in the normal flow, mirroring the abnormal flow to ensure comprehensive report processing.
Configuration and Bot Master Parameter File Changes
We’ve streamlined the configuration process by removing several redundant parameters. This reduces the risk of typing errors and simplifies feature activation. The master file now includes two new columns:
Report Indicator: Identifies the type of report (e.g., sugar for HbA1c).
Flow Indicator: Indicates whether the report should be processed in the normal, abnormal, or both flows.
Other updates in the release
Improved cholesterol logic for diabetics and CKD flows:
We've fixed an issue where the bot couldn't correctly identify target levels due to missing LDL or Triglycerides in pathology reports. This primarily affected a small number of practices in North West London.
Ability to process Vitamin D reports in normal filter without a reference range.
Bot will now be able to read the value of vitamin D reports and process them with normal or insufficient range in normal filter.
Accurx major update
We released a patch update before v14.0 in all practices where the bot was not able to send text messages due to Accurx framework update. We resolved this issue in an interim v13.7.9 by making certain back-end changes for our bot to work with Accurx.
Fixed minor bugs on anonymised data capture
This release continues our commitment to improving the reliability and efficiency of our platform. By addressing key areas such as workflow enhancement, configuration management, and report handling, we aim to provide a more accurate and streamlined experience.
